WARRIOR’S LAMENT

“Watching” by Trent ChambersSorrow descending, gently blending
with tears for years left unshed…
shadows drifting, memories shifting,
voices calling from the dead…
obligations feared unfinished, guilt
pressing undiminished, pulsing,
throbbing through his head;
soul aching, heart breaking from
all the dark thoughts left unsaid.
Contrition is now a lasting condition,
though he had himself fiercely fought
… and bled.
