COMING HOME TODAY
Daddy is finally coming home today.
For much too long he has been away.
For much too long the family was apart.
Those many memories always quicken my heart!
We would walk in the cool evening air.
You holding our small hands without even a care.
We talked about your going away.
Promising to think of each other every day!
Mother's eyes would glisten, then moisten each day,
When she talked first of the days - then your years away.
Till the night of the accident took her too.
She always thought each day of you!
Now all the family, old friends, and even some new ones too -
All are here in the church to welcome you.
Daddy, you are finally home from the war in every heart.
We will bury you next to mother today, and no longer be apart!
