Sheila Williams ~ Singing Cloud

FLIES WITH EAGLE!

When I my last journey make, I hope that it is this way.
While riding on Mother’s back I crept, then walked, then crept.
Life was long; the roads were hard, with troubles everyday.
From sunrise to sunset, it was work hard to earn my pay.
Child, to mother, then grandmother it seemed to pass so fast.
Each new dawn would bring the prayers to keep my family safe.
It was not the troubled road I walked, but those who would not understand.
The love in my heart for this land was Creator’s plan.
Never could they understand our connected way of life,
helping each other never made us weak.
Mother, auntie, granny, uncle, always some support, children never felt alone.
So when I lay this body down, and sing my journey song,
it will be our prayers singing in my heart.
Then open up the windows, open wide the doors, out of this box like trap, let my spirit soar.
I ask of You Great Creator, let my children say: elisi anitvhga utloyasdi uwohali!
