THOUGHTS AND QUESTIONS ABOUT OIL

For mor’n forty years, our electric golf cars
Hauled golfers out to the 19th hole bars
No smoke nor pollution, no smog and no stink
Whilst little white balls, rich men try to sink

Humanity has fought wars, and many have died
Wives and Mothers and children have cried
For the young soldiers who left this mortal coil
So those who own the world could control all the oil?

And now the young kids o’er at UBC
Have shown the solution for all to see
Will their creation ideas ever see the light?
Or will soldiers, for oil, continue to fight?

With their billions the Arabs could feed the world’s poor
Instead they build palaces and support Islamic war
And on our Han Island in our Northern Sea
the Danes put their flag for all the world to see?

Is it a worthless rock in the Canadian North?
Will Dane Northern Sea drill rigs soon travel forth?
Without Canadian permission, Yanks through waters sail
Is our Gold and our Diamonds and our oil up for sale?

There is oil in Alaska and at our Fort McMurray
The Chinese have invested, and they are in a hurray
If the UBC super mileage car is really true?
Will its halted manufacture then really ensue?

We’ll continue all suffering and taking our lumps
Paying eight bucks a gallon at the oil company pumps!
It causes smog-pollution and it causes turmoil
Will we ever be free from the curse of big “oil”?
