What’s life about you seem to ask
As you complete each daily task
Your poetry and each photograph?
Soldiering thoughts, up from the past?

Pictures of the steps that upward rise
Stark buildings sit there against the sky
Vancouver’s flower beauty beds in the park
Overdose Sirens that scream after dark

Hot Coffee mugs lifted to the lips
Costco shopping, Doctor’s trips
Newsletter order in your Vancouver home
Where outside homeless people roam

Your life is important – your day job has zeal
Your photography and your words are for real
John you are an old soldier you did your bit
You ride your bike and you still keep fit

Your daily writings have a great rant or two
Keeping track of our Canucks and what they do
Solving world problems on each daily blog
Writing poetry and walking bandit the dog!

There are the important things that we all do
And in this poem I have mentioned a few
I admire the things that we receive from you
Stark and beautiful Photographs and words so true!
