JANE’S FAREWELL

Today I went to a funeral
for Lynne’s cousin Janie Thomson
Poems were read and words were said
poor old Jack’s now lonesome!

I bought two large coffee blacks
at Tim Horton’s coffee shop
‘Twas on the way to the funeral
that we made a caffeine stop!

The piper played the Scottish tunes
the family tapped their toes
there were no cigarettes or booze
do you remember those?

We gathered at the Sooke Legion Hall
Where Janie Stories were recalled
I shed a tear; I dried my eye
it ain’t too macho for a man to cry

So goodbye Jane resting now above
go with God and family’s love
You’re with your Scotty Dogs tonight
now that you’ve journeyed to the light!
