THE IZZY DOLL BERETS

Carol Isfeld made the Izzy Dolls that wore the blue beret
I got one of these as a gift – from the Gulf Islands, just today
It was a Canada Day special box, and in it were two billys
I think they looked a bit like me? Or am I being silly?

One doll it wore a maroon beret and one a UN blue tam
I wear parade berets just like that, because that’s who I am
Mark Isfeld gave out little dolls to the kids of war
He gave his life amidst that strife, to ne’r come home no more!

And we continue with Mark’s love, bringing gifts to each sad little kid
And we bring out the smiles of joy just like Mark Isfeld did!
Aids Orphans in the Samburu, street kids in Afghanistan
Izzy dolls bring children joy, in Malawi, Haiti and Pakistan

We have gathered 20,000 dolls for the homeless children of war
But there are millions of AIDS ORPHANS so we need more and more
We pack them around our medicines and we’ve stopped keeping score
The wonderful knitters of Canada have opened up love’s door!

Thank you for the Izzy Dolls and for sending medical supplies
Thank you for supporting lonely orphans who’s parents have just died
We feed the kids in Africa – we send meds packed in dolls
Without your help, we could not send, out anything at all!

Thank you Maroon and the Blue Berets, thank you all from me
Mail a cheque to ICROSS CANADA, to Post Office Box 3
Mark it down to Saanichton at Postal Code V8M 2C3
And you will get an income tax receipt from my wife and me!

Help us send out medicines and help us send out dolls
Help us give out comfort, to those with none at all
Help us do the works of mercy and help to comfort the dying
Your assistance and an Izzy doll will stop a child from crying!

The Izzy Doll Berets

Author’s Note: Marie Murphy gave me these as a specially wrapped gift for Canada Day – I will use these in my lectures about Izzy dolls and ICROSS CANADA – Marie organizes an Izzy Doll knitting group on Pender Island and brings over a bag of dolls every week.
