HIV/AIDS Ulcers – Nakuru. Africa, 2006Conferences and Meetings for HIV and AIDS
Spending millions of dollars – is progress being made?
Hotel bills and travel and lavish meals for a few
Re anti retro viral drugs, condoms and painkillers too!
Out in the villages, human beings they still die
And humanity forgets to ask the world, why?
Big names at the meetings, Bill Clinton and others
Lobbying for drugs for the African Mother(s)!
Year after year these AIDS meetings go on
Charity is big business like an Elton John Song
The pandemic continues, there is no end in sight
Preservative Meetings still masking the African plight!
South Africa’s President believes HIV don’t cause AIDS
Whilst the truth of the matter is quite serious and grave
He and others want money to treat all of their sick
But the money in country seems to disappear quick?
The virus has now spread to each corner of the globe
India and China are now part of the scientific probe
The meetings go on and big money is still spent
But not much is accomplished at each gala event?

Author’s Note: There was another Global HIV and AIDS conference held in Toronto during August in the summer of 2006. Like the other preservative conferences, not much is ever accomplished? The attendees enjoy the travel, meals and accommodations, and the HIV and AIDS pandemic stats are updated in order for various NGOs and Governments to secure more monies from CIDA and the UN and the USA etc. The monies spent on these lavish global conferences might be better spent on research and prevention and on easing the suffering of the dying poor in the Global Village on our battered and bleeding wee planet. Just one old poet’s opinion, for whatever that is worth. Submitted for November 2006 IWVPA Club Theme Project, “Perseverate”
