BILLY’S 70th BIRTHDAY POEM
(With Apologies to many Irish Poets)
Happy Birthday to Billy
An honorable man
Who will empty your wallet
As fast as he can
Light fingered he ain’t
So don’t raise a complaint
‘Cause he feeds hungry children
And women and men
And then… goes and does it
All over again
His jump days are over
He should live in clover
But he’s helping blind kids
And ol’ vets on the skids
So raise him a toast
Or give him a roast
And even a cheer or a yell
But – watch “him” as you do
Or it will be “you”
Who pays for his next Kenyan well…
