DEREK AND MOLLIE’S DILEMMA

The snow and sleet kept coming down
The ice and snow lay upon the ground
And folks they could not get to town
It made my friends Derek and Mollie frown

Mollie and Derek were snowed in twice
The roads are slippery, not too nice
Under the snow lurks slick black ice
Stay at home stay safe is my advice!

Vehicles couldn’t make the Galiano Hill
The snow in the forest lies silent and still
Medical Appointments etc all were lost
The weather has an unacceptable cost

It is cold tonight there will be more snow
So bring in fire logs and watch a TV show
Kindle a huge fire in your stone fire place
And cuddle in blankets, face to face!

Let the firelight glow defeat the snow
Let the embers heat your room
Forget about the raging storm outside
Let the log light heat defeat the gloom!

Author’s Note: After not being able to attend the ICROSS Canada 2006 Humanitarian Awards Presentation and Tea because she was “snowed in” after heave snow storms, Mollie Colson wrote: I'm so sorry to have missed the awards Presentation. Other neighbours missed medical appointments and we don’t have newspapers or even some mail. Apparently more [snow is] on the way tonight. (Moving could look good to me at the moment)
