BEAUTY IN THE EARLY SPRING LISTENING TO THOSE ROBINS SING!

New blossoms are opening on the plum
Making the little hummingbirds hum
There were ten red-breasted robins on my front lawn
Pulling scads of earthworms this early dawn

In Newfoundland they report a big snow and ice storm
Said Colleen on the radio this early morn
Ottawa has hockey on each outdoor rink
And folks skate on the frozen canal, too, I think?

The prairies are buried deep – deep in the snow
As further west in Canada the cold winds blow
The Chinook warm winds of Cow Town Calgary
Are a greeting, as snow capped mountains you see!

Go over the Rockies filled with avalanche white drifts
And come to the flat plain of the delta rift
Then take the ferry boat across the sea
When you come out West to visit me!

The snow drop flowers of the early spring, they are finally here
we have lots of warm and sunny days, around this time of year
Talking about the weather, I know it’s a real drag
But hey, it’s that time of year for our annual flower count brag!!
