It’s a typical Canadian
backyard rink!

Peewee team lads all come to play
they get up early every day
and dat for sure is de Canadian way
dat’s wat I think, ain’t it, eh?

In Victoria we have no ice, no snow
so to the basement rinks kids’ll go
or to Bear Mountain and the local rinks
parents play year round upon the golf links!

Canadian frozen yards or lakes or ponds
is where the local kids’ll respond
they learn to skate to shoot and score
to get a goal makes a wee heart soar!

An’ that my friends is the Canadian way
if you listen to what hockey parents say
Wayne or Des, hear each word Grapes’ll tell
it’s their start on the road to the N.H.L.!
