ZUMP AND ROD AND SERGEANT JIM
Zump he marched upon the square
Whilst we were serving over there
The Rod said Zump was a real mess
Had a big beer belly in his battle dress
The Zump, he wore, medals galore
From WW2 and the Korean War
Joe wouldn’t back down from sneer or frown
And he retired back home to Ottawa town
Rod eliminated the competition
And that was his lifelong mission
He never got the goods on Sgt Jim
Jim was fit and tall and soldierly thin
But the day then came alas alas
Jim screamed those words GAS! GAS! GAS!
The CO was choked in the ensuing mess
Which got Sgt Jim three weeks as our BOS
There is a huge parade square in the sky
That old soldiers march upon, when they die
Jim Waldron, the Zump and my friend Rod
Are now marching there, in the ranks with God!
RIP Lads – we’ll be coming soon
