On the Obstacle Course:
Butt stroke, Perry, Ground Sandbag, kill
Those are the main parts of bayonet drill
Hessian straw bag hanging on the rack
Thrust, withdraw, ground kill! attack!
Sewing sand bags filled with straw
Paint on a face and a butt stroke jaw
That job was done by buddies and me
Whilst doing time on Regimental CB
In the Gym or Playing Field:
Advance, and thrust with the Cuddugle Stick
To avoid being hit ya gotta be real quick
The Sergeant screams: “You are not an old wife!”
This bayonet drill just might save your life!
Boxing gloves taped hard upon each end
Thrust and Perry Dodge and bend!
Jock strap adjusted, hockey gloves on;
Taught by veterans who fought at Inchon!
In the Field:
Standing in a slit trench, up on Aprecke Hill
Sarge cries: “Fix bayonets – Platoon prepare to kill”
Hear the whistles blow – then go over the top
Advance at the double – till you’re ordered to stop!
On the Square:
“Battalion will fix bayonets… Bayonets… Fix!”
“Batons and Shields form to the rear – Quick!”
We form hollow Square for crowd and riot control;
Advance at the ready… like the Romans of old
In the Road Run Song:
AIRBORNE AIRBORNE Kill Kill Kill!
That’s why we practice bayonet drill!
AIRBORNE AIRBORNE do or die!
Raining Victory from the sky!
Ubique – Ex Coelis – Nos Servetum
