TEN YEARS
It seems so long ago
Yet it seems just yesterday
America was at war.
300,000,000 strong
Still feel the scars of battle:
Physical, emotional, mental.
A shell-shocked nation
Plagued by PTSD:
Plagued by pain and suffering.
It couldn’t happen here
We, the invincible:
We, the Almighty.
Three building struck.
Tower north, tower south, the Pentagon.
But more than that, a nation struck.
For those of us who lived
The wounds will never heal.
We the innocent victims
Of America under siege,
It was only ten years ago,
But a lifetime spent in Hell.
