RED, WHITE, AND BLUE 2002

Flags that once flew,
Proud and true,
And with purpose!

Flags that once could be seen everywhere,
Now seen faded, ragged, and in roadside ditches.

Almost a year passed,
Where is the Pride?

Where is,
The Red
White
And Blue?

Are we so soon to forget,
What happened and to whom?
Have they gone,
Into the darkness of our minds,
Those who had died?

Even those who were found and those not found,
Now only live in the hearts of families and comrades.

Sixty three births without a father’s presence,
Their children to never hear his voice.

No hugs,
Or tears
No kisses,
Or teddy bears.

Just mommies’ lonely tears for their newborn,
Just mommies’ tears because he is not there.

And the memories,
Memories of,
The Red,
White,
And Blue.

LIGHT THE CANDLE

Another year had come and gone;
One memory that remains
Is September 11, 2001.

Forever in our hearts,
those, who pay the cost,
Will never be forgotten.

We still remember,
What has happened,
We will never forget,
Our Nation’s reaction.

I will light a candle
For 9-11.
I will light it
Out of love.

Love for those
whom lived and died,
Love for those,
Still asking, Why?

I will also light a candle
For the victims,
In loving Honor.
Honor for those
Who died for us.

Honor for those
whose lives were lost.

I light both these candles,
and ask that you do the same;
Show our Nation our love,
For we show no shame.

FALLEN SENTINELS

Danielle N. Calhoun: Fallen SentinelsTwo big brothers,
Proud and tall,
Stood their ground,
Took the fall.

Within their walls
Were many souls –
Souls of people
Great and small.

Over 3000 lives
Were lost that day;
The memories remain,
They will never go away.

Dark days followed,
After the dust went away,
Many died,
Many forever pray.

War was called,
Upon a country,
For what they did,
To our hearts,
And families.

Someday soon,
We will rebuild,
Someday soon,
War will be nil.

For now our hearts,
Pour out our love,
To those brave souls,
Who were sent above.

God protect us,
In our time of need,
God protect those,
Who still grieve.

A BLACK BIRD IN SEPTEMBER

Wings Black as Coal,
Body just as so,
Rests upon a tombstone,
Of one who has expired,
And gone to someplace higher.

Its Caw is Loud,
It’s Flight just as swift,
A Journey is now,
About to begin.

Bird of Death,
And of Life,
Caws to those,
Who died in Vain,
To take them to Heaven,
When there will be Peace again.

TIRED FROM CRYING

Tired from crying for 9-11;
For all the souls who went to Heaven

Watched TV to kill the silence,
President Bush called for possible war,
War upon a country,
One for which I do not care for.

But for the people who are innocent,
I wish they did not have to endure,
The pain and suffering at our hand,
Or from the man who rules their land.

Tired of the tears, anger and pain,
I wish it would all just go away.

TOWERS TO ASHES

Towers to ashes they both fell down,
Shattering of glass and other horrific sounds,
Memories remain in those who still mourn,
The terror that happened, that September Morn,
Towers became ashes, these twins that did fall,
The memories remain on those who still live on.

FOR SEPTEMBER 11

This is a day of remembrance
On this day in 2001, terror befell us,
As two brothers did fall, the memories,
No one will ever forget, the tears cried,
The people who died, their lives taken,
By just a few planes.

On this day, a moment of silence,
For the fire-fighters, the police,
The civilians and pilots,
Who risked their lives.

On this day, as the years go by,
The memories remain, the tears,
Still cried, for those who were lost,
In just one moment in time.

On this day, we will never forget,
The day two brothers fell,
And America Wept.

TRUTH IS, THIS IS CALLED WAR

All is quiet on this day, nothing wrong with anything.
Building stands, it’s people inside, going about,
Their busy lives, soldiers in uniform, others in suits.

Walking about, not one has a clue, of the distant terror,
That’s coming so close, no one notices, no one knows,
‘Til it’s too late, the walls come tumbling down, fires start,
People fall down, glass goes flying, and bricks start falling.

People screaming, others crying, not a single warning,
Not a single sign, ‘til it’s too late, the terror has arrived.

The plane redirected, headed for someplace else,
Became a weapon, from the nose to the tail.

The Pentagon in shambles, lives completely changed,
Nothing will ever, really be the same.

9/11

Where were you when the towers fell?
Were you alone or with someone you love

I was with my family that day
when the planes hit New York

and Shanksville
a close shave

I wasn’t there when the smoke filled the sky
I wasn’t there to comfort those who cried
I wasn’t there when innocence died

But I was there praying inside
I was there when the firefighters

and police helped all those
who were practically dead

on their feet

They were the ones
who where there
that fateful day

It is in their memories
I write this today

To all the families
of those who died

The firemen, police
and unknown

I hold you in my heart
forever my flag will fly

No one will break
my spirit like that day
I will forever love

The country
where I was born
and raised

So for any of you
who still blame us
for shame

We were not to blame
for what happened that day
