THE ODE

THE World Trade Centre towers in New York
Stood up so straight and tall
And little did we know that
One day they would crumble and fall

THE reason for the disaster
Was not at first real clear
But as time went by and news came out
The nation was filled with fear

SOME terrorists high jacked some planes
With their crews and passengers alike
And used these flying missiles
At the buildings they were to strike

FOUR targets they had planned to hit
Without fear or trepidation
For all they were content with
Was striking fear into the nation

MANY thousands of people lost their lives
From different corners they did muster
Only a handful were recovered
While the rest lay where they were

IF one could see the look on their faces
It would make you ponder and think
That all these wasted innocent lives
Would raise a world wide stink

THE call to arms was sounded
To avenge the ones that died
And the people stood together
Some were cheering while others cried

OTHER nations of the world are helping
To avenge this horrific deed
And track down those responsible
Because there is an urgent need

FOR with any war that is fought
The end result is all that matters
But amid the confusion of battle
Blood from both sides will be splattered

WE are fighting for a cause
That will keep all others safe
And the only way to do it
Is to oust the enemy from their base

TO do it will take some time
But we have plenty of that
Because our friends from around the world
Have also come in to bat

WE must live in peace and harmony
With our fellow man
And be able to move around
Throughout the worlds many lands

WE cannot be held to ransom
For what we say, think or do
But get on with our lives
As the good Lord would want us to

SEPTEMBER eleven will be remembered
By the families and friends
As the day that their loved ones lives
Came to a tragic end

But the world will also remember it
As the start of a new era
That pulled it all together
And made every body steer

TOWARDS the end of terrorism
And its many fanatic factions
That caused so many leaders
To take such drastic actions

FREEDOM and democracy will prevail
As we know it rightly should
For we know that what we are doing
Is for the people and the good
