LISA I. HILBERS
MEMOIRS OF AN ANGEL
She stumbled from the building,
Her face covered in gray ash,
Confused about what happened,
Over this terrorist lash.
There was blood trickling down,
From her skull to her shoulders,
Her head pounding as though,
She'd been hit by a boulder.
She fell to the curb,
With her world in dismay,
She was wrapped in a blanket,
"Come with me, here, you can't stay."
Two strangers helped her,
As they started down the street,
Then they heard a loud rumble,
As the first tower fell at their feet.
The pain in her head,
Was numb to this fact,
For the pain was now in her heart,
From this selfish act.
When the dust begin to clear,
She could see the figures she heard,
As they prayed aloud to Jesus,
Because their fears had been stirred.
She kept thinking to herself,
Why can't I hear me?
Then she heard them say,
Another angel flies free.
