Mustard and nerve gas
WWI began
About four years
They fought!

Barbwire strung
Trenches deep
Trenches long
Sometimes knee deep in water and mud
All hand dug by the soldiers of WWI
Rifles with bayonets fixed
Hand to hand combat
Ground soaked blood!

Goggles and scarves
They took to the air
Cloth covered wood frames with wooden props
A single stick between their legs
Strafing runs hand dropped bombs
Dog fights in the air
Screams of falling Biplanes
To the earth
They crashed!

It was the war
To end all wars
To bring peace
To the earth!

From
Sabers on horseback
Horse drawn cannons
Hand dropped bombs
To laser guided bombs
It was not the war
To end all wars!
