WARRIORS PAST

From the Spanish American War
To WWII and more
They lived and died
At their Colonial Home
1881 to date
I walked about
Rows and rows
Of those that are there
Some stones new
But most discolored from age
Even found four
Medal of Honor Recipients
From the Civil War
Before I left
At attention I stood
Slowly to my brow
My hand raises
Then slowly down
As tears flow down my cheeks
“Thank you brothers,” I said
Then left as silently
As I had arrived
