HEAVEN AND HELL

The choir sings the same old songs
How Jesus saves and faith is strong
How we should praise and glorify
So we’ll be saved when we up and die

I sing along with half a heart
I’m just not sure; but I do my part
The organ grinds and people praise
The preacher talks of better days

The preacher talks of glory and grace
So that we may go to a better place
I just don’t know of heaven or hell
I hope there’s a heaven the way they tell

When I’m gone and in the ground
Just buy my friends another round
Tell them heaven is where we are
But a life in hell just ain’t that far

… this prompted Randy’s observation:

Could it be you’ve run plumb out of names for the ladies…
That now you are writing of Heaven and Hades??
I too though get these feelings… sometimes in MY pew
But my hope is in Heaven… where I hope to meet you

When my time comes I’ll look for the light instead of the pit
Walk away from that darkness, with stuff smelly and shit…

To which Col opined…

If there is a heaven both you blokes will go,
Old Nick and his devils have no humour you know
You’d destroy all the flames with a bloody great blow,
And turn it into a place where we’d all wish to go

And Randy responded with…

And if we could just drive through those old pearly gates
Where all the things good and sweet there awaits
Saint Pete says the charge of our passage is an Aussie old coot
We answer “no worries… Buck Jones is stuffed back there in the boot!”
