BANYAN

Banyan, a proper English girl
Took her milk and tea at four
Her long brown hair was curled
And nearly reached the floor

Banyan wore a string of pearls
Around her slender neck
They were the finest in the world
Salvaged from a Spanish wreck

Banyan’s dress was fine silk cloth
Her black shoes of patent leather
She never worried of the cost
But only wore them in fair weather

Her dainty hands were manicured
Her toe nails painted royal red
Her quiet beauty often lured
Young suitors to her tea party
