OUTSIDE LOOKING IN
A selfless soul was he
But a fire burned inside
No one else could see
His inner darker side
The smile was always there
Leaving the other world behind
No one knew or cared
How he suffered from time to time
For years on end he’d hidden
The horror he’d seen so young
It seems he was forbidden
To let his song be sung
He has the face of many
Who fought in senseless war
His story is the same as any
Who fought on a foreign shore
