DON'T WALK AWAY
Don't walk away
From our brothers who were doomed
To survive the war and come home
Don't walk away
Once again as we did
When they first returned one by one
They need us now
All the veterans of the war in Vietnam
Let's show them how
We can try to give them back
Some of what we took away
Let's sing their song
I lost my youth, my innocence
My child, and my sanity
In the struggle for power and land
War is Vanity!
When hate lingers on over years
As the blood runs deep
I think the price we're paying
In young men's lives is too steep
Well sure, we all hurt then
Every one who had a friend or a father
Or a son or a brother over there
But it's they who were the men
Growing up, growing older and wiser
And their burdens we must share
I lost my youth, my innocence
My child, and my sanity
In the struggle for power and land
War is Vanity!
When hate lingers on over years
As the blood runs deep
I think the price we're paying
In young men's lives is too steep
