BOO

The owls were restless
the moon… it was full

It was the very end of October
Listen… your leg I wouldn’t pull

A chilly wind was howling round my eaves
and rustling up the fallen autumn leaves

In the light of the bright shining moon
looking from the safety of my room…

I saw dark bats were on the prowl
in the distance… a dog begin to howl

just sending shivers down my spine
until daylight it would be a long time

A bowl of treats might comfort me
until the morning’s light I could see

A disturbance heard in the neighboorhood…
I thought that checking it out would be good

As I opened the door to see that all was well…
… there on my doorstep were demons from hell

A ghoul… a mummy… leering… a pirate… brandishing a knife
slamming the door… and throwing my candy at them into the night…
amid screams of ‘tricks or treats’… I barely escaped with my life
