WAIL OF THE BANSHEE
In Irish folklore, a banshee is a female spirit
who wails to warn of impending deathGunshots and missiles…
booming an screaming
… craters in the earth
wild-eyed charges…
bodies tossed in reckless mirth…
rifles… and machine guns in their hands
A spilling of blood daily in foreign lands
Above the din… battle cries ring…
drowning out any thinking thing…
save the fear… the fear… stark in their eyes
Yes… fear… for over the sounds of the battle…
they can hear the wail of the Banshee’s cries…
