THE SOLDIER AND THE HIPPIE
He lives in the shadows
Surrounded by his shadow world
With shadows of war friends long gone
Friends who now beckon him home
You were the sunshine man
You protested with a sign in your hand
“Make love not war”
You thought peace was your chore
Shadow man… sunshine man
Look at each other now if you can
Do you see the pride
Feel the pain when friends died
Can you see with your second sight
That what the soldier did was right;
Can you say a prayer to keep him
Safe from the shadows of the night?
