STEEL MEMORIAL
Taps sounded and bagpipes played
As the tearful mourners prayed
This part is now over it seems
They have taken down the beam
Left standing from the Trade Center towers
During one of America’s darkest hours
It has served as a makeshift memorial
But the search is now over for all
No more victims can be found
So they have taken the girder down
Wrapped in black cloth and with flowers adorned
An American flag was laid on for the mourned
Waiting to be a Memorial at the site of this tragedy
The fifty-eight foot girder for now taken to Kennedy
How fitting a shining memorial it will be
Standing so tall for the entire world to see
A girder of steel still there standing alone
In memory of the ones never coming home
