NO MOTHERS’ TEARS
Of a leader we should demand
Before a war they can declare
They must serve in foreign lands
For our wounded they must care
So many soldiers left home today
To serve our country here at home
With each a mother knelt to pray
In fear she must live her life alone
The memories flashing in her mind
Just where did those years all go
Wishing there was peace to find
Though no solace is she to know
She thinks about a babe in arms
She can see her little child at play
Wondering if they will be harmed
As her little soldier marched away
Why should a mother give a child
In this war that don’t make sense
Maybe no more to see them smile
In this horrid war that she resents
She watches till they are out of sight
With a lonely heart that’s full of fear
But if our leaders all knew this fright
There would be No Mothers’ Tears
