I AM… A FEMALE PRISONER OF WAR
alone, and scared,
but hopeful,
I AM –
wounded, beaten
but
I will
not break, or bow.
I am loyal, true,
and prayerful
I am one of you.
I am my father’s daughter
Do you know me now?
I am a Prisoner of War
all the women prisoners
captured, and killed,
or returned
before……
I am the pride of my town
the heart of my mother
the love of my son
and
at one with my brother
I am downcast
but not forlorn
I may be shackled –
my hair may be shorn;
I am bruised but am not broken
No useless information
will, by me,
be spoken
Freedom for me,
is the open door
I am
a Female Prisoner of War
