BRAVE YOUNG SOLDIERS

Brave young soldiers I cry for you
I know the truths you believe to be true
I know the feeling as you pump out your chests
I know you will die so we can rest...
Free in our country and in the world at large
Your dreams in flags and sparkling stars

Brave young soldiers I cry for you
I know what your leaders tell you is not true
I know you don't question, it's just yours to do
You follow the orders they make you do
But they follow orders, not from people like you
But from they that exploit, the red white and blue

Brave young soldiers I cry for you
In a lifetime passed, I believe I was you
The people in charge, you will never see,
They are beyond your generals and military
They are getting rich while they send you to war
And fighting for freedom ain't what it's for

Brave young soldiers I cry for you
And know I will always stand behind you
But if I protest what they send you to do
Believe it has nothing, to do with you
And I'll support you and praise you; I'll salute you
But mostly brave soldiers, I'll cry for you.

Author’s Note: I wrote this poem because I felt a sense of sorrow for our troops in harms way and are heading in harms way for reasons I am not too sure of. You know. they wrap you in a flag, use you then spit you out and throw you away. Also I was conflicted about being against a war like those in the 60's and I did not want to be like them. I search for a way to protest yet honor our troops. I needed to write about these things.

It galls me that our two highest leaders did not serve. one said he had "other priorities", the other was an AWOL mess in the National Guard, while both being big oil people!

I don't know. War is too ugly for this bs., but the ugliness of war does not reach them!

It's a scary world getting scarier.

The true war should be on Hunger!!!!!
