16 FOR A 6 STRING
He traded his M-16 for a 6 string
He went off to sing about the war
But after all the songs that he would sing
He always felt like he needed more...
Like freedom from the bitter heart
And hurt that ached inside
The terror of the frightful nights
When sweat would not subside
But singin' and a strummin'
Will never cast away
All the pain and sorrow
He carries everyday
The songs sing out the horror of the war
Emotions they drive you insane
Once you been down to the abyss
Tears, will heal, the pain
Rising from the darkness
Embracing all the pain
Maturing from the sorrow
He'd do it all again
He keeps singin' and a strummin'
Them bastard blues away
Belivin' in the healin'
That brings a brighter day
He traded his 16
For a 6 string
