WE WILL REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS

Mary E. Rogers: We Will Remember You Always
Today my mind traveled back in time
To the day you went away
As I stood there and held your hand
And to my Lord I prayed

I told you to go on home
That we would be okay
That God would take care of us
And you didn’t have to stay

I told you that I loved you
That we would meet someday again
But now your brothers were beckoning you
To a place where there is no pain

I fought so hard to keep you
I just couldn’t let you go
Then as I watched you suffering
It was time for compassion to show

I heard you whisper my name
As my tears fell on your brow
I kissed you and told you to go
You were needed in Heaven now

One last breath was all I heard
Then silence fell all around
I knew the angels had arrived
And you were stepping on Holy ground

I miss you each and every day
But I know the nightmares are no more
I know you are at peace right now
With your brothers on Heaven’s Shore
