IT’S WHAT WE DO
We’ve been to many places
We’ve seen a lot of Hell
Yet we never left our home
It’s in your dreams we dwell
We wander through the mine fields
We hear the screams and cries
That see the red blood flow
And look at sightless eyes
We lay right there beside you
And wait for your return
From the nightmares of the Hell of war
That keep you far from home
Sometimes we walk beside you
In the shadows in the dark
Sometimes we follow silently
This time we got your back
What would you do if we were gone
And you were all alone?
Who would hold you in their arms
Each time you come back home?
We stay because we love you
We know you love us too
And you are doing the best you can
It’s what Vietnam wives do
