IRAQI GIRLS AND BOYS
Will it be weeks or months or years
That the Iraqi people will live in fear
How long will it take to bring them peace
How many tears must a nation weep
Lives filled with terror and sleepless nights
Minds that no longer know wrong from right
Poverty and executions that keep them in line
Brainwashing even the strongest minds
Our soldiers are walking on foreign land
While there are those who can't understand
Look at the faces of the smallest ones
Then ask yourself that question again
We see the protestors and we hear the roar
They say we support our soldiers but not the war
They march in the streets with their banners held high
While our young men and women try to stay alive
They degrade our President for sending us to war
To bring peace to Iraq's girls and boys
To free them from a regime so cruel and unjust
And give them a government that they can trust
Victory will be ours when the battles are done
The smiles will return to the little ones
They will not live with a spirit of fear
No more eyes brimming with tears
And when our soldiers return to the land of the free
Will you lift your banners and parade in the streets
Will you greet them and say 'welcome home'
Or will you spit in their face and call them baby killers again
Before you do that to our soldiers once more
Look into the faces of the small girls and boys
Whom our soldiers have fought and died for once again
In a far off land to bring freedom to them.
