SLUMBER

Did I sleep too long I wonder?
As I let the shadows rule
Unaware that all I’d done
Was go and hurt this foolish fool

As the years lost in that slumber
Still suggest there’s shelter fair
I know it’s a place of sadness
There’s no sanctuary there

Once awake I faced the darkness
That has always lived in me
Fought my way back to the shining
That each day’s supposed to be
