PRAYERS

He had watched a good friend die
Who left him all alone with ‘why’
And as the tears rolled down his face
He prayed to God to take his place

There are no words that can dissuade
The ache inside the soul that’s made
When you stand witness to the price
That comes with selfless sacrifice

Don’t know how strong you think you are
But moments come that leave a scar
He asks each day upon his knee
Why take them Lord, instead of me
