MAN CHILD

Memories so distant,
Yet memories so near
Memories that call to me
Of those who were so dear

Growing up inside a place
Of anger filled with fear
Knowing I was not alone
Though danger was so near

A child who came to manhood
Yet this child still lives in me
And humbled there before my God
By what He let me see

A man child I remain I know
Just that and nothing more
Another casualty who never
Came home from the war
