Russell is a Veteran of 3 tours of Viet Nam where he served in the Mekong Delta at a place called Dong Tam as a Navy Gunners Mate… a River Rat. His unit supported the Mobile Riverine Force and the 9th Infantry. He was wounded once in action – his words, “Damn Rockets!”
Delta Blue, Russell’s “handle”, is derived from Mekong DELTA and Navy BLUE. Navy Blue was a term coined to describe US Navy personnel fighting in the Mekong Delta region of Viet Nam.
