HUMBLED

So far away and long ago,
Where I was taught the ways of ‘know,’
I learned the language of extremes,
That to this day speak in my dreams.

A place where only anger ruled,
A place where hearts were quickly schooled,
A place where I was taught the truth,
A place that killed this thing called youth.

Why I was spared I cannot say,
Why I was spared to know this day,
Why God left me there with the dead,
And told my heart, go get it said.
