GUARD DUTY

It’s the middle of the night
I’ve got the mid watch once again
And soon I’ll get to ask the sunrise
Where the hell its been

I find myself here often
It is just a part of me
A behavior that I picked up
In a land of disagree

I’ve written often of the night
We don’t see eye to eye
And so I keep a look out
Till it finally passes by

Can’t say I like the habit
But that’s just the way of things
I still don’t trust the night
Or like the song it often brings
