PISSING POST
I’m kinda confused…
A couple of years ago, on that sad day in September, when our president told terrorists that there was not a place on this earth where they could run and hide, we shook our collective fists and cheered! Now there are many of those who shake their finger and scoldingly tell us that there are places we should not look, fences we should not cross, and freedoms which shield those same terrorists whose toes should not be stepped on.
Does resolve dissolve so quickly? Can our memories have faded so much as to believe that such as 9-11 or worse could not strike us again tomorrow morning? Is our preparedness, awareness, and vigilance so vastly improved here at home that we no longer consider our children and grandchildren to be at risk from the feelings and threats of those ‘way over there’?
What the hell happened?? We continue to try to ease world hunger and suffering with the sending of food and medicine to every corner of the globe only to see much of it seized or commandeered by rebels in war-torn struggling countries to nourish their armies. Then we have to watch as the bloodied and bloated bodies of those for whom our aid was intended are displayed on our evening news and again are left with the message, ‘these folks need help’. So what are we to do? Nothing? Maintain a status quo of fattening combatants and letting the chips (and bodies) fall where they may? Send enough troops and firepower to ensure that the needed supplies and food go to the intended recipients? (Whoops… can’t have that because that might be considered policing the world!)
Still confused… and a little pissed…
Then I see some right here at home searching through dumpsters looking for a cold crust of pizza and I wonder… just where would my extra five bucks do more good?
We send more of our dollars, drugs, doctors, and nurses to immunize on a massive scale against disease and are met with skepticism that we’re trying to poison a population.
And I’m a little scared…
With seeing how the perception and interpretation of a document that formed and framed the foundation of this nation and its supposedly enduring principles, has been mutated.
We have already suffered, despite the will of the extremely vast majority of the people, the loss of public prayer in our schools. Now, we have some whiny-assed idiot in front of our Supreme Court arguing against the words ‘under God’ in our pledge of allegiance. Actually, he doesn’t believe his daughter should be compelled to say those two words (she personally doesn’t care).
I don’t think I’m wrong here in believing that for well over two hundred years now, we have always had the right to pray… OR NOT TO PRAY! I don’t believe any of us have a right to be expected to be shielded from the sound of another’s prayer OR to be offended by the silence of one who chooses not to pray. And for those whose personal decision it should be to omit those two words from the pledge, you will not go to jail for not doing so! I mean C’mon, for God’s sake… uh… sorry!
Anyway, these are some rambling thoughts for which I have no ready answers to, but when they’re rolling around in my brain, I sometimes feel like pulling my little part of the planet up around my red white and blue neck and telling the rest of the world to just leave me the hell alone!
So, does anybody else have this problem or am I just a weirdo? LOL… don’t answer that!
