MEMORIAL DAY, 2010 – A TOAST
To all of us who celebrate
To those whose graves we decorate
To stars and stripes and children’s’ smiles
To unsung songs, untraveled miles
Here’s a wish for coming peace
For wars to end, for hate to cease
For today, we’ll lift our glass
Until these things may come to pass
As in the past, again this year
We offer up… this and a tear
A quiet toast, a rose of red
We raise to you, our honored dead
