Janet Rattay: Song of Autumn

SONG OF AUTUMN

Let us sing the song of Autumn
as we rake and sweep the leaves
The wind has sent them flying
from the branches of the trees

Bright colors swirl around me
playing catch me if you can
I have just swept the yard
where the leaves decide to land

Good exercise I tell myself
while I bend to bag them all
Could it be that we are nearly
at the halfway mark of fall

Soon the frost will settle in
on the pumpkins and the corn
Fog and dew will no doubt accompany
the cool, crisp November morns

God's creations have their season
death to life and life to death
Soon winter will approach us
with a shiver on our breath

I'm thanking God for all he sent
to the seasons of my being
I look around with grateful heart
for seeing is believing

The treasures of the seasons
Spring, summer, winter and fall
Wonders of life to behold
For the good Lord made them all.
