ONE'S WORDS
Never let the words I utter
Be as sharp as a razor's tip
For words in haste can maim and kill
Once they leave the tongue and lips.
You can never take back the words you've said
In anger they'll find a place
What you have spoken will stay forever
In another's heart you'll not erase.
The scars can last a lifetime
All the sorrys won't make amends
Think before you speak the words
Of the hurt you might intend.
And if by chance you're forgiven
For the words that caused such pain
The Apologies accepted, the words rejected
But the memory remains the same.
The power of words can strike one down
Or bring one to their knees
Killing verbiage, a weapon of sorts
Is comparable to a murderer's deeds.
