MY ANGEL
The heavens opened wide
To an array of angels inside
Waiting to be sent to earth
To guide a child's life from birth.
A picture hung upon my bedroom wall
Children crossing a bridge with an angel tall
Protecting their footsteps along the way
Walking beside them day after day.
When as a child the North wind did blow
Turning everything white with falling snow
'Twas the angels having a pillow fight
I laughed to myself at such a sight.
Summer storms brought booming thunder
When would it end, I stood and shuddered
'Twas only the angels' bowling balls
Making such noise in heaven's halls.
Those childhood memories I like to recall
And the angels have remained in spite of it all
For unexplained happenings I do believe
Have come from the angels in time of need.
It's wonderful to know you're never alone
Familiar surroundings or far from home
And when you sneeze and don't know why
Could it be a feather from the other side?
