DID YOU HEAR?
Jimmy D. came home today,
No parade, no fanfare, no tomorrows;
A neighborhood filled with quiet sorrow.
It can’t be true is what they say,
Did you hear Jimmy D. came home today?
A freckle faced kid cut down in youth,
Searching for justice, searching for truth.
A gold star wife he left behind,
And a baby girl with answers to find.
I’ve watched them grow throughout the years,
Memorials, remembrances, amid the tears.
The baby girl quite a woman now,
She’s found his buddies, it took awhile.
Yes, Jimmy D. came home today,
In fact, we felt he never left,
We hold him close without regret,
He lives among us like all vets
