A BRAND NEW WAR

We wake to a brand new day
Terror warnings in the air
Dangerous world on the horizon
Our homeland, will it be spared?

Security measures are in place
Specific sights have been named
Alter lives and shut us down
Part of the terrorists’ games.

Remain vigilant; we’re not at ease
We’ve seen destruction at our door
Terrorists working behind the scenes
It’s a brand new day, a brand new war.

Our children now deep in Iraq
Missions accomplished and ones to be sought
Daily fact, their lives are on the line
Doing their job as they were taught.

America’s soldiers fight for democracy
In a far off land forlorn
We pray for them as we pray for ourselves
Bring them safely to tomorrow’s morn.

We wonder how it ever got this way
Turning and spinning to gain control
I’m afraid my beloved America
Is once again paying the toll.

How can this land I love
Be so hated and so scorned
Terrorists, what do you know of us
Our demise, oh yes, we’ve been warned.

But we shall rise up when we fall
No matter what they cost
All that was fought for and won before
Will be remembered and never lost.
