WHAT’S IN A YEAR?
The clock’s winding down on ‘just’ another year,
A year of laughter and pain.
One we’ll remember, as we do each one past,
For the moments we can’t live e’er again.
We’ve loved and we lost, dear friends have gone home,
Others have welcomed new births,
As hard as we try, time won’t stand still,
If so, some would move heaven and earth.
‘Ring out the old, let’s welcome the new’,
Revelers will be making glad toasts.
Others will watch quietly as the New Year arrives,
Thinking of the ones they miss most.
If I’m not around to wish you the best,
When next year you sing ‘Auld Lang Syne’,
Remember the times we laughed and we cried,
And know you were never far from my mind.
A heart won’t forget although it grows still,
Silenced as we cross over the veil,
Know that I’ll carry the love of a friend,
One that I cherished so well.
What’s in a year? Just days that flew by:
Moments when arms reached for each other;
Seeking the shelter from life’s troubled waters
In the strength of a sister or brother.
Let’s cherish each moment that God gives to us,
As we wipe away a friend’s lonely tears.
Walk with me friend and let’s dance in the rain,
So we’ll remember ‘What’s in a Year?’
