UNTO US THIS DAY…
“Unto us this day, a child is born,”
Words passed down through the ages,
A story foretold for hundreds of years,
How His life would fill history’s pages.
An innocent baby, born without sin,
In a manger with the lowly of beasts,
Wise men would come, bearing their gifts,
Following the star in the east.
Joseph and Mary, had traveled back home,
For the census Augustus declared.
Heavy with child, she cradled her womb
For she knew the burdens He’d bear.
There, in a manger, so silent and still,
The Christ child sleeps in the hay.
If just for one night, we knew peace on earth,
On this, our first Christmas Day.
